Seb Dance

Deputy Leader of the British S&D Delegation (Labour Party)

We are proud to announce our 2019 MEP Awards host, Seb Dance, Deputy Leader of the British S&D Delegation (Labour Party) in the European Parliament.

Seb Dance is a British Member of the European Parliament for the London (UK) region following his election in 2014.

He is a Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and was coordinator for the S&D Group in the Parliament's inquiry committee into the dieselgate scandal (EMIS). Seb is also an active substitute Member of the Development Committee (DEVE) and part of the Intergroup on LGBTI Rights.

Since starting in the Parliament, Seb has been active on various environmental policy issues including air quality, climate change and LGBTIQ rights.

Seb is also known for his work trolling Nigel Farage, holding up a sign saying “he’s lying to you.”

Prior to entering the European Parliament, Seb led various campaigns for ActionAid UK, an international development charity, focusing primarily on fighting poverty and tax avoidance by multi-national companies. He also worked as an advisor to the UK Secretary of State for Northern Ireland between 2007 and 2009, during which time the final parts of devolution as part of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement – policing and criminal justice powers – were being delivered by the UK Labour Government.
