APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging, is a federation of the four major producers of steel for packaging (ArcelorMittal, Tata Steel, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, U.S. Steel Košice).
Founded in 1986, APEAL represents about 95% of the total European production of steel for packaging.
About Steel for Packaging
Model material for a circular economy, with the highest recycling rate in Europe, steel for packaging has a key role to play in reducing food waste by protecting and preserving products at all stages in the food chain.
A unique packaging material, steel combines exceptional performance capabilities with unrivalled environmental credentials. Strong, formable and long-lasting, steel offers numerous benefits for the safe packaging of a wide variety of products including food, beverages, aerosols, personal care, household, automotive and industrial goods.
A permanent material, steel can be recycled infinitely with no loss of quality. Magnetic properties make steel easy and economical to separate from other waste during recycling processes. Finally, because steel scrap is an inherent part of the production process for new steel, every single steel plant in Europe is also a recycling plant, saving resources, energy and emissions by recycling steel in a simple and efficient process.

We thereby serve as an interlocutor, creating synergies as we move forward.
EU40 celebrates modern, political communication in the ‘Brussels Bubble’ and beyond and has become renowned for its fresh, creative and inspirational style, when communicating political content and complex messages.
EU40 brings together those who will change the face of Europe – either in the European Parliament, the European Commission or the Council. In the meantime, our Alumni includes national ministers, Prime Ministers and European Commissioners; all of them are EU40.
EU40 is a cross-party platform, which believes in an approach towards European politics that is not merely based on party politics or national issues. We believe we do not only have the great opportunity to shape the future of Europe, but furthermore that we have the responsibility to do this in a sustainable way, giving future generations the possibilities and tools to determine their own future. It is not purely our generation we are doing politics for, but it is our generation doing politics today and tomorrow. We want Europe to be at its best. Therefore, we seek to connect the best.
EU40 is led by a Board composed of 7 MEPs from across the political spectrum with whom we take decisions and shape the agenda of our projects and debates.
